Check out the 'Royal Flavours of Rajasthan' at The Hebbal Cafe - Courtyard by Marriott Hebbal, Bengaluru!

‘The Hebbal Café’ at Courtyard by Marriott Hebbal has come up with an interesting festival this time to celebrate the essence of Rajasthan – ‘Royal flavors of Rajasthan’. I was interested to check out this festival as this is one state which I always wanted to explore for its rich traditions, culture and distinct cuisines. I am so fond of colors and Rajasthan is all about vibrant colors and that is another reason which connects me to this beautiful state.

Coming back to the ongoing food festival which I enjoyed to the core in recent times. The Executive Chef Lakhbir Singh along with the visiting Chef from The Westin Pushkar, Chef Laxmi Narayan Das, and the Marriott team has created a ‘Royal feast’ for us. Trust me, this time it was more close to my heart as the Chef created all the dishes with the right ingredients and sourced everything from the land of Rajputs.

Though there was a buffet option, we got a chance to experience the Thali. The wonderful afternoon started with three summer coolers – Bajre ki raab (millet drink), Pomme’s cup and a Muskmelon drink.

For appetizers, I had Pichola Macchi (deep fried fish with burned garlic flavor) and Maas ke sule (smoked and grilled lamb with a handful of spices). These two appetizers were so good. Shekhawati Dahi Wada was another favourite of mine.

Rajasthani food is much more than Dal-bati-Churma and Laal Maas, yet we can’t skip these two amazing dishes when it comes to Thali. The Laal Maas was totally different from what I have tried before in Bangalore, and that’s simply because of the main ingredient they have used is Mathania chilies, which makes this a great dish. It also adds a bright red color which is far better than the color of Kashmiri chillies.

Other than Laal Maas, I enjoyed Ker Sangri (a delicious dish made of Shrub berry (Ker) and dried Beans (Sangri), Jodhpuri Bharwaan Gatte, Paneer Mircha, Murgh Shekhawati, Mawa Pulao, Makai Roti, three types of pickles and my favorite Dal-Bati-Churma.

For desserts, we had the beautifully done Malai Ghewar, Malpua and some Orange flavored Churma and that was truly the best-chosen desserts for the finishing touch to our lunch.

Overall I enjoyed this grand Royal Rajasthani flavors and also gives me a reminder to visit this beautiful land sometime soon. If you want to experience a glimpse of flavors of the royal kitchens of Rajasthan, then head to The Hebbal Café at Courtyard Marriott, Hebbal. The festival is on till May 5th, 2019.
