New menu at OKI, Bengaluru!

When you visit a restaurant which you were planning to dine since long time, the excitement level will be double. Recently I have been to OKI restaurant at K'hattan (Kammanahalli) to check out their new menu. OKI specializes in Pan Asian, mainly Korean, Japanese, Thai and Malaysian along with other cuisines like European. This cute little place has an interesting menu which makes this one of the popular restaurants in that area. The staffs at OKI is helpful and polite. 

Summer afternoons are incomplete without chilled beverages. So soon after reaching the restaurant, I ordered a Chilli Mango mocktail which tasted good.

They have a lovely selection of salads and we really enjoyed the bold flavours from the 'Burmese Tealeaf Salad with roasted nuts and lentils' and also the #instafriendly 'Duck and peach salad with mix berry olive dressing'.

From the small eats menu, 'Garlic bread with smoked Salmon dill pate topped with roe', 'Crostini with Peach berry sauce and Feta', 'Tofu, bacon and scallion fritters with sweet chilli sauce', and 'Gimbap prawns with mustard sauce' were simply amazing. I will surely go back for these.

For the main course, I had 'Grilled Tiger Prawns with sauteed veggies in creamy lemon caper sauce'. This dish had execellent flavors except the fact that I don't really enjoy frozen prawns in any dish.

Every group will have that one or two foodies who can't end their meal without desserts. So we shared one 'Peach Cinnamon apple crepes with Orange butter sauce'. This was vanished in no time. Fruits and spices (especially cinnamon) are match made in heaven. Isn't it ?

Overall I enjoyed a wonderful lunch at OKI and would visit again for great food and good service. If you get a visa for K' hattan, then do visit this lovely restaurant for a great meal.

'Chettinad Samayal' at Nook at Aloft Bengaluru Cessna Business Techpark from 13th - 24th May, 2019. Don't miss it!

Chettinad region in Tamil Nadu has always fascinated me with its centuries-old magnificent mansions, temples, and rich culture and cuisine. Chettinad means the land of Chettiyars, who were bankers, traders, and businessmen. I love Chettinad cuisine for its immensely rich and flavourful dishes.

Nook at Aloft Bengaluru Cessna Business Park is having a Chettinad Food festival, ‘Chettinad Samayal’ till 24th May 2019.

Don’t miss the chance to savor the feast by Chef Murthy and his team. Some of my favorites include - kuzhi paniyaram, vellaiyappam, meen varuval, vada, thenkuzhal, Chettinad chicken, sundakkai (turkey berry) vathal kulambu, pachadi, and other Chettinad special dishes. They served us ‘maapilai samba’ and ‘Manachanallur ponni’ rice along with biryani and ghee rice. It’s always best to #knowyouringredients and local products than going behind ‘firangi superfoods’.

We had Kavuni arasi (black rice) sweet, badam halwa and kummayam (a sweet made of lentils and jaggery) for desserts and everything had very earthy flavors and that’s the simplicity about this cuisine.

Oh Hello there all Chicken lovers - 'Nothing But Chicken' is now available in Bengaluru!

What’s the plan for this weekend? I am all set to enjoy some delectable products from Nothing But Chicken (NBC). Yeah, you read that right! Mumbai’s popular brand – Nothing But Chicken is now available in Bangalore providing the patrons the finest and freshest range of Chicken products which are 100% natural, corn-fed, and importantly preservative and artificial color free. The wide range of products includes cooked, marinated, and raw chicken. NBC products are Halal and also ISO 22000 certified.

I tried their ‘Yoghurt and Pepper Chicken’ from marinade range, seekh kababs, ‘Chicken and cheese torpedoes’, and ‘Chicken Cheese Onion Sausages’ from the ‘ready to cook’ range and a refreshing ‘Pesto Chicken Salad’ from ‘salads’ range. I really love the quality of the products especially the Seekh Kababs and the grilled Chicken. I will surely order their Kheema pav and Chimichurri marinated Chicken next time. The marinated and ready-to-cook products take very less time to cook and hence these products are a great option for house parties and even for working people.

Customers can enjoy a quick meal at their Koramangala outlet and also the products are available for delivery/takeaway. They also have Signature dishes which focus on unique, traditional and healthy dishes by Chef.

Apart from the quality of dishes, another interesting thing about this brand is that they sell food by weight and not by the portion and it’s something which I am tempted to order from them again.

The only thing I felt could have been improved was their product packaging. There was no proper product description or cooking instructions on the products which I received. The plastic sealed package didn’t have a cover, so if one has to store the products then they need to transfer the products to a different container.

If you are Chicken lover like me, then try the tastiest Chicken products from ‘Nothing But Chicken’. I hope to see more outlets of NBC in Bangalore.
