When Italy meets India - Stosa Cucine store launch by Mirius Interni and GoodHomes!

Stosa Cucine, a luxury Italian Kitchen brand marked its entry in Namma ooru recently. Italy’s Stosa Cucine has a 50+ years old legacy in creating a luxurious fine range of modern and elegant kitchen design solutions all over the world. I was invited to their first South Indian outlet launch by Mirius Interni and GoodHomes Magazine. The store launch was on Jan 14th, an auspicious day for most of the Indians. The fun-filled evening along with lamp lighting had popular faces from Stosa Cucine, Mirius Interni, and GoodHomes along with socialites, and lifestyle bloggers.

Our evening started with a store tour and Mirius Interni’s COO, Ashita Parmar helped us to understand the concept behind each kitchen style along with the current market trend. I must say I was thoroughly impressed by the quality of the products used. Recently I have done my kitchen interiors and wish this brand was available in Bengaluru that time. I would have blindly selected the designs. Some of the sleek designs are even suitable for pied-a-terre homes. I get bored with interior designs very easily and love experimenting with current trends. I’m sure I will consider Stosa Cucine next time I modify my favorite spot at home - the kitchen.

Some of the popular designs from Stosa Cucine-

Stosa Cucine – Infinity Diagonal
Infinity Diagonal owes its name to its groove handle which outlines a diagonal shape in the socket. This innovative design comes in two new finishing versions. A unique design created from the crafty blend of materials and attention to details of the new Stosa Kitchens.

La Dolce Vita... Home is where the heart is and heart is where the kitchen is! A good home requires a wonderful and comfortable kitchen where you love to spend time. With soothing and vibrant colors; from rustic Italian to nordic and modern designs, Stosa Cucine has brilliant designs which will bring an elegant charm to your space. With a kitchen like this, you will love spending more time in your kitchen.

We had a fantabulous evening with lip-smacking food and refreshing drinks from the newbie in town- Broadway - The Gourmet Theatre. Chef Tanvi Chandan and her team have done a wonderful job. Every guest enjoyed the scrumptious Italian food. Paired well with the yummy Italian food there was Sula wine for the wine lovers. I tried Sula Zinfandel, a smooth red wine with fruity notes. It was an honor to be a part of this launch and thanks to team Stosa Cucine, GoodHomes, and Mirius Interni for a great evening.

A nouvelle dining experience at Grasshopper, Bengaluru

Away from the city’s hullabaloo, a candle light dinner with your beau in a romantic place will be any girl’s dream. I had a similar dining experience recently at Grasshopper, Bengaluru. This place was on my wishlist since ages. Every time for special occasions like birthday and anniversary I will consider this place and end up going to somewhere close-by. This time I made my mind as I wanted to say goodbye to the year 2016 in a special way.

Last week of the year will be so much fun and I always explore a new place for creating wonderful memories. If you ask me whether I dined at a five star, I would say my experience was nothing less than dining at a posh restaurant. Grasshopper, located in Bannerghatta road (close to the famous Meenakshi temple) is a beautiful luxury dining place with a limited number of seats. So if you want to celebrate your special day, make sure you make a booking well in advance.

The beautifully set stone and wooden tables with enchanting bouquets, candle light, spotless tablecloths, standard servewares and soothing soul music in the background will be the first few things you notice once you enter this beautiful restaurant. The first appearance of this place will make you will feel like you’ve been transported to a heaven. With a European culture influence, this place is run by a couple for 13+ years and they serve an amazing European food here. At the time of booking, Grasshopper people will take your dietary preference to assure a wonderful dining experience.

Every Chef is an artist whether he/she a home chef or Michelin star chef. At Grasshopper you will see Chef's magical touch in every dish which comes in front of you. I completely forgot about the tiresome journey I had when I took the first sip of Ginger - Lemon Cooler. It was an instant energy booster.

They also served freshly baked assorted breads with balsamic vinegar and olive oil.
We started our dinner with a Chicken liver Pate with micro herbs and caramelized onions. Though I am not a liver lover, I quite liked balanced taste from the wonderfully plated pate with the crunchiness from the pine nuts, strong flavors from micro herbs (marjoram and thyme) along with the soft caramelized onion. It was indeed a great start.

They allow guests to carry wine and we took a bottle of Sula Sauvignon Blanc with us for our special dinner. Bangalore winter night and European food, a glass of good brand wine is a must to best enjoy the meal.

Prawns with ginger, sesame, and seaweed combo was a spot-on dish. The succulent prawn was coated in oozing sauce which tasted like a butter- garlic sauce and it had intense flavors from the seaweed. We just felt like we needed more and then came the next dish - Smoked duck breast, with butter beans, plum sauce, and garnished with nasturtium leaves.

The festival season special duck meat served was delicious to the core. With the butter beans and Plum sauce combination, it was like a match made in heaven. By now I loved the choice of carefully handpicked micro herbs they used in every dish.

As we were ‘pure non-vegetarians’, we were least expecting anything veg in our plates. To our surprise, they served a beautiful Orange salad with black olives, walnuts, oregano and mixed greens. I love citrusy salads and added nuts will make me happy. For me, this salad was more garden fresh and extremely tasty one.

Next on the menu was Sea bass with tarragon, capers, and sun-dried tomatoes which had distinguished flavors from each ingredient. This dish had Tarragon herb which complimented well with mildly flavored Sea bass fish. We had enough time in chit chatting and enjoying every bite we took as there was a proper interval between each dishes they served.

Next one was my favorite - Lamb rounds with a spiced red wine sauce, and herbed potato wedges. Ooohhh la la la… The tender lamb with red wine sauce was a melt-in-mouth dish and for extra crunchiness, there was a bunch of herbs, zucchini strips and potato wedges coated in herbs. The sauce was perfectly cooked with a great balance of flavors.

After having an awesome main course, our expectations were really high for the desserts. We ordered three different desserts for all three of us. I had the Orange Panna cotta with Pomegranate reduction and orange wedges. The silky smooth Panna cotta passed my wiggle jiggle test and it was a delectable dessert. I tried a small bite off Chocolate Ganache and Mustard Ice cream with a touch of white chocolate shavings from my friend’s plate and OMG! It was so so yummilicious. This was the first time I tried a Mustard ice cream and loved it to the core. The creamy and sinful Chocolate Ganache will make you dance. Lemongrass Ice cream was just okay.

They have a trendy lifestyle store named ‘Hidden Harmony’ and if you are with your special date, you know where to take her :P One of the co-owners, Sonali was kind enough to spend some time with us for a meaningful conversation about the Grasshopper restaurant's background, as well as the global food scene. Of course, food connects people. We spent a quality time there and would to love to go there again. A meal for two would be ₹ 5000 + taxes and they have parking inside the compound. It’s a must-try place for a superlative and beautiful fine-dining experience which can’t be compared with any of the Bangalore restaurants.
