If I have to think about candle light /romantic dinner places, Uppercut
at Sheraton Grand Bengaluru Whitefield Hotel & Convention Centre will be on
top of my list. Located in the IT Hub –Whitefield area, Sheraton Grand Hotel is
Marriott’s 100th property in the country which is recently launched
in the month of April. This was my maiden visit to this property after missing
the launch party. Sheraton Grand Hotel in Whitefield is huge, ultra-glamorous,
and luxurious property which I felt the best among all the Marriott properties
in Bengaluru. If you are looking for an al-fresco dining, then ‘Uppercut’ is
the place for you. The restaurant specializes in premium steaks, lesser-known flavorful cuts, fresh seafood, free-range poultry and game meat. They have a
good selection of dishes for Vegetarians as well. Uppercut is open only in the
evening from 7 – 11 PM.
On a rainy evening,
my visit to Uppercut with a friend was nothing less than a sheer delightful
experience. With 10+ years of experience with famous F&B groups, Sous Chef
Sumit dished up a few brilliant dishes
for us on that evening. We started our meal with a glass of cocktail which we
enjoyed with assorted bread. My ‘drink of
the night’- ‘Avenue’ was a concoction of 12 yr old Glenlivet Scotch Whisky, apple
brandy, passion fruit, homemade grenadine, orange blossom water and orange
bitters. The mixed flavors were amazing but the drink was a tad too sweet.
The weather was pretty cold and as it was
an al-fresco dinner, we ordered a ‘Potato and Parmesan soup’ with burned garlic
and truffle oil. The usage of Truffle oil in premium restaurants is very common
nowadays and I just love the flavor of it. The thick soup was up to the mark.
Tomato and Burrata Cheese Salad had the perfect
burrata with a dash of olive oil and we loved it. My friend who is ‘occasional
vegetarian’ was happy about her vegetarian spread.
For the main course, I had the luscious ‘New Zealand Lamb Chops’ which was
medium-well cooked. I opted for Green peppercorn jus and Chef also gave a portion
of other sauces. Mark my words, this imported beauty (lamb chops) was
brilliant.
For suiting the Indian palate, they have
‘Ethnic’ in the menu in which you can customize your order to Indian flavors.
To enjoy the main course, truly in European style we ordered a ‘creamy potato
mash with golden garlic chips’ and ‘Creamy Spinach’. The mash was good but
lacked garlic chips and garlic flavors. Creamy Spinach was perfect for me. I
wouldn’t have minded a sprinkle of pepper in it.
For desserts, they have very few options
and we ordered the ‘Molten Chocolate Cake with a scoop of Vanilla Ice cream’
and the French favorite ‘Classic crepe Suzette with fresh raspberries’. While
enjoying the desserts Chef took our humble feedback which I really appreciate
because not every restaurant or Chefs
will be open for feedbacks.
Uppercut also hosts corporate tables. When we have hotels like this in ‘namma ooru’,
we really don’t have to think about outstation plans on weekends. Do consider
this lovely place for your special occasions. Overall I really enjoyed
the quality time I spent at this beautiful hotel and would love to visit again.
A meal for two would be ₹2000/- (approximately).
