All about my weekend lunch at Punkah House, Indiranagar, Bengaluru!

If you are looking for a sophisticated gastronomic spot in Indiranagar with colonial vibes then head to Punkah House in 12th Main.

Punkah House is now open for lunch and they celebrate the good old times where India-Burma-Ceylon had many things in common when it comes to a gastronomical affair. The food and bar menu has a wide range of options available with interesting names which will take you back to a different era.

What I liked most - 


Pegu Imperial - The Victorian-style Burmese Club essential which had Gin, raspberry and lemon; a perfect drink for my liking.

Bengal Sour - Another favorite from the curated cocktails menu which had Tequila, triple sec, homemade raw mango shrub.

Brigadier - From the ‘Barrel-aged cocktails’ menu, this drink was presented in a classy way. The concoction made of Bourbon, absinthe, coffee and orange bitters and angostura bitters was pure bliss.


The food here is simply fabulous. Each dish had distinct flavors and textures. If you are confused about the food menu, then ask suggestions from the sauve Chef Akshay. I enjoyed the Foxnut Jhalmoori, Rustic Chicken dumplings which comes with a chilli-pepper broth, Not-so-Wasabi lollipops, Jamun Ceviche, Sweet Potato Chops, Chorizo Vada and mushroom crumble. These classic dishes are something you must try when you visit Punkah House.

Main Course

From the main course menu, I loved their Pepper Beef fry hoppums and Yangon noodles (Chicken). Being a Mallu, I can vouch for the hoppums they serve - perfectly cooked and the right balance of flavors was experienced.


After a heavy meal and long conversations with friends who are like family, we ended our lunch on a sweet note with their Toffee Cheesecake. This dessert will blow your mind.

Overall I had a great time at Punkah House and would love to visit again. The vibes of this place are brilliant and it’s a perfect place to take your date or even for a formal meeting with your client.

A wonderul afternoon at the newly launched Bo-Tai, Bengaluru!

Alexa… Which new restaurant is a must-visit in Bengaluru?
Alexa: In Bengaluru, it’s Bo-Tai.

After missing the launch party finally, I made a visit to this trending new restaurant recently. Bo-Tai is the latest restaurant from Massive Restaurants. Zorawar Kalra, the pillar of Massive Restaurants always surprises their patrons with modern and unique restaurants that can go beyond the borders. Bo-Tai located in JW Marriott, Lavelle Road is winning hearts for its sophisticated modern Thai and Chinese cuisines and also for the beautiful ambience. Their Al-fresco seating under the 200-year-old tree is soul-soothing. You don’t feel like you are actually sitting in a 5-star property. The surprising part comes when they present you with the menu which I would call ‘affordable luxury’.

Bo-Tai’s bar menu is done by a team from London and the bespoke cocktails served are treat for your senses, both visually and flavor-wise. ‘Full Moon Festival’ – a cocktail inspired by the popular Thai festival Loi Krathong is made of Beefeater, Strawberry and rose syrup, inhouse spiced vermouth, grapefruit, spiced orange syrup, pandan tincture, lime, and edible flowers.

Bo-Tai’s food menu is brilliantly done. We started our beautiful afternoon with Preserved Raw mango, Avocado salad which was so refreshing. One of the best Avocado dishes I had recently.

The Raw Mango, soft shell Crab is something you shouldn’t miss if you love Crab. Being a Keralite, I love the way they garnished a few dishes with fried coconut pieces. Other interesting appetizers from the menu are – ‘Corn curd pepper salt’, ‘Crystal Radish Dumplings’, ‘Beijing style Prawns with Lantern Chillies’, ‘BBQ Pork Spare ribs’ and ‘Crystal Pork Dumplings’. Each dish served with different fried toppings and this added an extra oomph factor to the delectable dishes.

For the main, I tried Stir-fried noodles with Duck Massaman curry and Tofu in Thai Basil sauce. The noodles had such immense flavors, it didn’t really need any side dishes. They served us some piping hot Jasmine rice with ‘Thai Green curry’ and ‘Grilled Snapper with Chilli Jaggery and lime’. The Grilled Snapper was amazing.

After a wonderful meal, it was time for desserts and we tried their ‘Coconut Crème Brulee’ and ‘Chocolate Tart’ (They should name this 50 shades of Chocolate :P ). I really enjoyed every tiny bit of the beautifully presented, lusciously rich desserts.

Overall I had a great great time at the newly launched Bo-Tai. I will surely visit again for some of my favorite dishes. This place completely transforms into a different atmosphere with their classy nightlife scenes. They have taken the Bengaluru Party scene quite seriously I guess. Whether it’s for fine dining or for a rocking party, do visit them to experience the vibes of this place.

Check out the newly launched The Irish House outlet in Lido Mall, MG Road!

Happy news for people who enjoy good food and drinks - The Irish House opened a new outlet in Lido Mall, MG Road. I am that lucky one, who have visited all their outlets in Bengaluru, simply because I enjoy the food and vibes of this place. One reason I would love visiting them, again and again, is that they never compromise on quality and quantity.

Sunday lunch gets better with friends and good conversations. The 'Twisted Old Fashion' drink is a must-try for coffee lovers. It had Bourbon, Espresso, Thyme and bitters. They also have Geist beer on tap.

TIH's food menu is fabulous that one can close the eyes and choose the dishes (only if you are a pure non-vegetarian :P). I love their flaky and fluffy 'The Great Irish Fish n Chips', and the succulent 'Drunk meatballs' served on the crisp baked mini tortillas. The 'Wow' moment was when we tried the 'Sourdough Fondue Bowl' and Pita pockets with pulled Pork meat filling.

For the Main course, I ordered 'Smoked meat Spaghetti'. The creamy Spaghetti with spicy and smoked Pepperoni is all you need on a Sunday afternoon. Another favorite on our table was 'Beer Can Roast Chicken' which had immense flavours. This dish had wedges as sides and the Chef was kind enough to serve us a bowl of mashed potato which made our meal from great to perfect.

Often it is difficult to get good desserts in pubs. At TIH, we tried their 'The Irish Riverdale', 'Nutty Caramel Pie' and 'Dual Chocolate Torte'. All three were so yum. The only thing I felt was Caramel sauce quantity could've been slightly more.

Overall I enjoyed the time spent at this new outlet of TIH and staffs are well trained and polite. Do visit The Irish House, Lido Mall to experience the Irish way.
